Functional Communication Group

Cost:Between $864 ($96 per session) and $1152 ($128 per session) depending on numbers.

Additional money for incidentals (e.g. movie tickets, bus tickets, ordering a drink at the café) will be required and outlined at the start of the term.

The program will target developing your child’s functional communication skills in a fun, engaging way while participating in community visits.

This is an activity based semi-structured social group.

The speech pathologists will facilitate further development of a range of social and communication skills while in real-life situations.

This group is recommended for adolescents.

The Can Speak clinic at Bruce is located close to free parking, shops and public transport options.

Classes are delivered in a relaxed, fun and informal manner with skills learnt each week building on the previous weeks learning.

For this reason, regular attendance is important. Sessions will be a mix of in clinic and community outings.

Parent engagement and attendance may be required on some community outings for safety reasons.

The group cost can be claimed using your NDIS funding package however it is recommended you confirm with your NDIS Local Area Coordinator if your funding will cover group therapy.

A pre-program interview may also be scheduled in the weeks before the course commences to ensure suitability at a cost of $50.
